The Panzer IV was developed in the first months of the 2nd World War to equip the German armored forces with a vehicle equipped with a 7.5 cm gun.

and with greater protection, given the limitations of the previous model with a 5 cm weapon, against the threat of the adversary means, in particular the Soviet T 34s equipped with a weapon of that caliber and with good armor.

The IV model tank was extensively used by the German Army on all fronts during the whole of World War II and in numerous variants progressively upgraded to cope with the constant improvement of the opposing vehicles.
